I embarked on a new project that I hope will inspire a renewed sense of wonderment in what has become my "lost world." The result is "My Butterfly Muses: An Anthology of Adventures on the Nature of Butterflies." Within its pages are eighteen personal essays-tales, if you will-from my lengthy past. Each presents butterflies at their grandest in their reasonably intact habitats. All except one of the essays was published previously in a more technical format in a scientific periodical and/or in a commercial nature-centered magazine. Here, each is presented in a new format, I hope, to engage both professional and non-specialists, who espouse an interest in nature, and who will chance a break from the ubiquitous video screen. The style is a synthesis between technical and popular writing accented with dramatic photographs-in other words, serious science presented in everyday, conversational language.
