The autobiography gives an account for a woman who was born and raised in an Egyptian rural farm community of a village in the Nile Delta; most known for its literate population, whether farmers or professionals. She left the farmland and her parents' home; at early age, to Alexandria in order to start her education and plan her career path. She worked in various cities and then settled down in Cairo, where she assumed different academic positions; including working as a social counselor. In spite of two failing marriages, a demanding profession, and financial difficulties she was able to raise successful and distinguished son and three daughters who made her proud. Her straightforwardness, openness and disarming frankness gained her friends as well as caused her clashes with closer family members. Being a canny mother and a creative entrepreneur, she was able to utilize her talents in macramé and art work as well as train two of her daughters to start a business that covered shortage in resources. Both daughters became University Professors; one in fashion design and the other in fabric design. Her stamina and persistence made her a real steel-magnolia; like most women in the deep south of the USA (Dixie); combining the contrasting traits of steel; a tough alloy that does not weather under extreme stresses, and magnolia; a pretty flower that brings cheers to all those who got to know her.
