Among the hurdles people attempt to overcome are bullying, loneliness, marginalisation and sexual predation. Among the characters, meet Ben, who has to keep walking in order to remain sane. Myna, who is determined to build her own life away from the brutal patriarchy of stone-age forest dwellers. Tamatha, a young black woman who struggles against racism and indifference. Georgina, who has to learn to love herself before she can reach out to others. And Sophie, who has to try and convert despair into victory, even at the ultimate cost to herself.
