Twisted Wordz In A Straight World

This book is about the experience of being apart of the LGBT community of color, someone who comes from an urban background, someone who comes from the ball scene culture who could possibly be dealing with any of the myriad of issues that we possibly face in life from childhood through adulthood. With the exposure of shows like Pose and My House I provide an in depth look at men who are birthed from that very scene but not often spotlighted. This book features poetry that touches on several subjects ranging from Death, Love, Family, Faith, Sexuality, Spirituality, Empowerment, and the Future. The vantage point is that of a masculine male who grew up pretty closeted and came to love himself through the love of the ballroom community. The poems are not all from one point of view and encompass many points of view, many people experiences. There has been a lot that I have experienced over my years. I speak to my personal struggles, struggles of those close to me, struggles of this community, struggles that I've observed of others near and far, etc. This book doesn't just speak to my experience of LGBT but also childhood experience, family life, friendship, being Black in America, etc. There are several times in this book where I stop and speak from my heart to talk about personal experiences (these are not poems but moreso testimonials about my journey in life). All my poems speak to my readers and were concepted to convey larger messages, be relatable, and were for people to enjoy. I do take time to honor people who personally inspire me in my life from family and otherwise. I hope this book touches any and everyone who reads it. Thank you all for your support!!!!
