Sam Percy is well known in Vegas. A successful hotelier, who has paid his dues, it might be said, and now enjoys a comfortable living, doing what he likes. His credo of love, respect and loyalty dominates his dealings. In this latter part of his life, he has fallen in love with a young dancer who seems enamored with him, but even with all his worldly wisdom, Sam is still skeptical at this new-found romance and has her followed. He needs to be reassured constantly that she is what she seems. Interspersed with Sam's story are short accounts of events in the author's life. Beginning in the fifties, through to present day, these anecdotes depict the author's journey from earliest recollections to teenage years and onward to senior status. She relates experiences of her work in offices, life on the farm, encounters with various individuals, with relatives mingled in.
