These Mountains Are Cursed

Darwin's eye shed tears. Fear captured his throat and his body shivered. He loaded his gun and ran into the woods to find the reason of Larson's missing, perhaps. But he ran opposite direction. He might have run to escape. He ran towards no where, but his lantern light was seen in the mist at distance, in the bright moon shine. Veer and Hitchcock broke out in a sweat, in spite of the cold. Both were confused. Within minutes, light went off at distance. They immediately heard the gun shot. After a brief silence, they heard the soldier's frenzied noise. Both Veer and Hitchcock hopped on their horse and rode towards south. They were scared of unknown danger. And afraid of the forest. Horses disappeared in the mist. Fallen flurries accumulated the alpine branches; were blown in the strong wind followed by both of them. Clouds darkened the forest completely.
