A Florentine in Florida

Life is a journey of experiences, curiosities to explore, and memories. The Manatee River reminds me of the Arno River in Florence and the strong bell sound of our front door makes me think of Florence's majestic cathedral. We have olive trees that transport me to the Tuscany Hill of my native region and two tall cypresses, the Florentine tree, like two sentinels that stand in our garden. I am a lover far from the loved one, my city of Florence. Life has taught me that beauty is everywhere, with different backgrounds and landscapes. I have learned to look at what surrounds me and to appreciate it. What is here is not there. Nevertheless, each place offers me valuable lessons to learn in this brief, earthly life.
