Dune Kelly wants nothing more than to win three things: his father's approval, the title of Keeper of the Kelly Clover, and the heart of a beautiful girl, Kyna. But first he must go on a risky journey to save the lives of Seamus Greenapple and his family of Leprechauns-when Dune's own Leprechaun magic hasn't even shown itself yet. It's a quest he didn't choose, but one which he must undertake. And to make matters worse, Kyna insists on coming along. His name, Dune, means protector, but how will he protect Kyna? How will he find and rescue the Greenapples? On the treacherous journey, they must outsmart Leprechaun hunters who seem to be always a step ahead of them, confront an unwanted paramour who guesses there's more to Kyna than a pretty face, and accept the possibility of a traitor within their own extended family. When they meet a bedraggled Connemara pony named Cairdeen, Dune begins to understand the meaning of the age-old saying: The parts of the Claddagh are three - Friendship, Love, and Loyalty
