Kyra Belan: Symbolic Magic

Kyra Belan: Symbolic Magic is a full color catalog of ninety two pages and a record of the installation of paintings and drawings that were created specifically for the unique space of the historic building in Fort Myers, the Sidney and Berne Art Center. This site specific installation featured several series of Belan's artworks, and a seventy two inch screen featuring three decades of Belan's previous installations, making this installation a three decade retrospective of her work. Kyra Belan is inspired by the tropical beauty of the state of Florida and the US, and also reflect the beauty of nature, the animals, the symmetry of human form, and the extensive color palette of the artist expresses visually the extreme beauty of Mother Nature. The artist works with several ongoing concepts to celebrate life, nature, harmony and the peaceful coexistence of humans and nature. Belan also uses many symbols, legends, and myths and lets the viewers discover the multilayered meanings of her artworks.
