Impressions of an Argentinian in Italy is the third volume of the series "Impressions of an Argentinian." It narrates the daily incidents occurred during a trip the author (Cecilia Acquarone) and her husband (Jorge Luis Costa) embarked on in the period July/ August 2016. The protagonists waver on the border between the insider and the outsider in Italy since they have previous knowledge of the country from other journeys and both their families are of Italian origin. On this occasion, it was their purpose to visit Italian friends, to discover new sites and to deepen their knowledge of the Italian language doing a course in the region of Le Marche. Showing interest as much in nature as in local traditions and culture, the diary provides a thorough view of the places visited. The itinerary followed does not conform with conventional standards since it responds to the specific interests of the travellers. It includes some important cities in the regions of Veneto and Emilia Romagna, as well as less trodden paths, especially in Trentino-Alto-Adige, la Toscana and Le Marche. The highly enjoyable course of Italian language and culture undertaken by the protagonists in Camerino occupies a significant place in this account. The particular character of this experience differentiates this diary from regular travelogues by adding the ingredient of the peculiarities of daily life in an old town of ancient origins on the Apennines, plus the enriching experience of sharing lessons, trips and a variety of activities with a group of students from all continents, diverse origins and ages. However, it is precisely at the height of this experience that something completely unexpected happens and affects the plans ahead. During the twenty-seven days of this journey, the travellers experiment a large variety of events which are commented in reference to the author's personal history and experience, giving origin to frequent opinions on the relation between Italy, the land of family origins and Argentina, the land of birth. Similarities and differences, echoes and responses in forms of life, habits and customs emerge in the mind of the writer as the itinerary in the Italian environment develops. Lived as an adventure, the journey inspires very different and distinct emotions in accordance with the vicissitudes experimented. Thus joy follows sadness, pleasant surprises are succeeded by shock and consternation, admiration follows disappointment and energetic enthusiasm, develops into physical exhaustion as intense aesthetic, social and cultural experiences succeed one another along the way. Evaluative personal comments on the places visited and on the products and services offered are also an important part of this diary. Local highlights as well as public transport, local hotels, restaurants and shops frequented by the traveller receive the corresponding assessment. Even if this is not a travel guide, the book offers reliable orientation and details that may help the independent traveller in the regions here described. Another asset of the diary are the innumerable personal photos taken on the way, which illustrate as much as complement the textual details that accompany them and contribute to the vividness of the reader's experience. Sincere and unadorned, the diary provides as much a realistic view of events and places visited as a personal, and then necessarily unique, opinion on the basis of the impact that such incidents and places produced on the author's sensibility.
