As the student population continues to become more diversified, educators are faced with the obstinate task of finding more ways to close the achievement gap and ensure that all students, regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or preparedness/readiness, meet or exceed education standards set by their school, district, state, and federal government. The purpose of this study was to determine if a course in diversity training at the University of South Carolina-Columbia would have a transformative affect on educators and other professionals who currently work in a variety of educational settings.
