The Harmaline, Harmalol and Harmine may have pharmacodynamic effect on the central nervous system, ranged between stimulation and depression, depending on the dose. P. harmala indicates a great variety of pharmacological activities such as dye of carpets. It is also used to dye the wool as antimicrobial antitumour and MAO inhibitory activities.
