History of School Education in Sancti Spíritus

In the present book the changes that originated since the end of the XVlll century in the Cuban town of Sancti Spiritu are appreciated, which allows to recognize in the presbyter Silvestre Alonso de Muñoz the inspirer of the educational ideas in this Villa and from him other espirituanos dedicated themselves to so important task.The purpose of making an "Approach to the relevant moments and outstanding figures of education in the 19th century", responds to the need to know the trajectory of education in the Villa during that historical period; to highlight the figures that stood out in the educational field, for the methods used in their classes, for their dedication to work, patriotism and how they influenced the formation of their students. It also includes the historical situation in the framework in which these figures developed, which are the key points in the formation and development of the pedagogical actions that helped the development of an increasingly progressive and revolutionary thinking in the territory.
