The Dictionary of Caribbean English Usage: SchoolEdition is intended to be used by secondary schoolchildren of the Caribbeanregion ages 11 to 18 and by their teachers. Its main objective is to be aneducational tool for the children of the region by promoting a strong sense ofCaribbean identity and pride in the young population, and to ensure that theirteachers will be able to learn more about themselves, their language, historyand culture and to impart such knowledge to their students with confidence. The content is presented thematically, under topics such as Fauna, Flora, Foods, Music, Musical Instruments and Dance, Religion, Festivals, and Folklore. The four appendices demonstrate what dictionary skills areand the process of how to acquire them. The publication is the first of itskind and is a landmark in Caribbean lexicography.
