Nanomaterials for Diagnosis and Treatment of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and the second rank in cancer incidence worldwide. So, early detection of breast cancer by screening is a key solution to reduce mortality. Mammography is currently used as a noninvasive method for breast cancer screening. However, this method suffers from the disadvantages including usual false negative results, high rate of false-positive data, incurred cost and required expertise. New methods based on nano and biomaterials can be a very good alternative to the current methods of cancer detection, including mammography. In this book, a number of those methods have been examined. Also, several nanosystems have been introduced to carry drugs, including chemotherapy drugs, to reduce their side effects and improve efficiency.
