In recent days, induction motors are widely used in industrial applications. The dynamic performance of induction motor contributes to its widespread industrial applications. A vector control methodology is utilized for improving the performance of induction motor control. A few of notable induction motor performances are torque pulsation or ripples, uncontrolled flux, required speed and phase current performances. The quasi-impedance source inverter proposed in this research has a merit of handling the before said performance parameters of the induction motor and also has demerits such as additional filter requirement for high power and high voltage application for reducing harmonics generation, electromagnetic interferences (EMI) and power factor correction in the range of passive filters. The demerits of the quasi-impedance source inverter are far overcome by implementing quasi-impedance source based multilevel inverter circuit. This method of power extraction paves the way for generating high voltage from low power source terminals, which in turn paves the way for the utilization of renewable power generated input, especially using photovoltaic power source. The multilevel inverter does not require any additional filters. The multilevel based quasi-impedance source is considered a suitable choice for power generation and extraction of photovoltaic power and can deliver controlled phase power to initiate soft start capability of induction motor drives.
