You wake up from a sweaty, late afternoon nap. Shuffling beneath a thin brown sheet you look for your phone to check the time for there are no clocks in your room, in your vicinity. You can't seem to find it. Strange. You kept it by your side before you went to sleep so where has it gone? Dejected, you get up off the bed, search for it everywhere, but it's still nowhere to be found. What time is it, you wonder. You go into the living room, then into the kitchen. There was surely a clock hanging on one of these walls before. But there isn't now. Where have all the clocks gone? It is bothersome but little does it change, because you are still well and alive. Breathing every second. You realise time still exists for you as much as it exists for everything else, the plants, the birds and bees, though clocks don't. But is that enough though? Merely breathing every second without a structure. Does it suffice being alive in Time without knowing it? You ask yourself, does something only begin to suffice when you understand it? Man drew clocks on God made time, but would it be better if he hadn't? The sun would still rise, the stars would still twinkle. Is ignorance the answer or simply just bliss? This book does not have answers. It asks questions. Josie, caretaker of Kafka, the goat is riddled with questions. So is Maryam. So is Anirudh. But aren't you too? And if not, shouldn't you be?
