I avoid the word "cannot" as conveyed by Mr. Jati every time he motivates the judo practice participants to keep trying and trying. "The Time turned out to be chasing me to force me to see, how ready I was to plunge into this fierce world. I have to be ready, I have to be strong, I have to be able to, even though it feels like I'm not ready, I'm not strong, and I can't yet." This fictional novel tells the story of a boy from a Chinese family in Indonesia, relationships between families, economic struggles, love stories, and the struggle to become a fighter as a way of life.
