African Americans from History: History Writing Workbook

Introduce students to famous African Americans from US history. Kids will read simple facts about each individual and then practice their writing skills by using the provided information to write sentences. Next students will edit their sentences. Finally, students practice their handwriting by writing a final copy of their sentences about each African American. For more advanced writers, have them focus on writing a paragraph with connected sentences. Great for Black History Month and all year long! The workbook includes a page on pronouns so that as students are writing they can use both the person's name and vary their writing with using a pronoun. Each person comes with a picture that kids can enjoy coloring when they have finished writing. Each person has simple facts given about their life, starting with a verb. This will support English Language Learners (ELLs) and allow all students to focus on writing even in they are not familiar with the person that they are writing about.
