He first achieved success with his animated short film PUSH, which took home a third-place prize at the Disney TAFFI festival in 2019. His next film, Fry, screened at multiple film festivals including the 2020 Catalina Film Festival and the 2020 North Hollywood Cinefest, and was eventually adapted into this very book.
