Grace: The Triune Power of God - Power Three: God's Grace In You: The Christian Grace Growth Cycle

As a Christian works out his salvation he will mature as a believer which means he will change and grow. Peter, in the final words that he wrote to the Church specified what to grow in. Peter knew that he was shortly going to be executed. In cases like that, a person usually tries to communicate to others the things that are most important to them. Here is the last thing Peter said to us, "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." Can you grow in "God's grace to you?" The short answer is no. He gives it all at the time you receive it. But as you walk through this life and mature in Christ, you can grow into a fuller understanding and deeper appreciation of what He has done for you. That maturity of understanding will positively affect your walk with Him. Believers can, however, grow in God's Grace Through You. This growth is in your inner man; we identify this growth as "God's Grace In You - the Disciple, " and specifically call it the "Christian Grace Growth Cycle." The observation can be made that, over time, a Christian should progress from being a hearer of the Word of God to a teacher of the Word of God. This transition takes time; growing takes time. IN the Bible there are two types of spiritual food: milk and meat. A baby can consume milk but not meat. Only a mature person can consume strong meat. This then is analogous to a scale where at one end is milk and the other end is strong meat, and every believer will be somewhere on that scale. "The Christian Grace Growth Cycle" will take us on a journey to discover the scriptural method for "grow[ing] in grace and the knowledge of the Lord."
