Fractured Mechanism

In a cyberpunk future where humans and robots coexist, a robot begins suffering from depression after a rainstorm causes a glitch in his systems. He describes his sadness as "blue lights" as his coded thoughts become re-written by the melancholic corrupted code. Did the rain cause the corrupted code or was it there all along just one rainstorm away from escaping?Despite trying coping methods like an "emotional waterproofing patch" and joining the "cyberless punks" subculture, the robot's depression worsens. He longs to travel. The robot, dejectedly working a factory job, is supported by his friends, but it only provides temporary relief. His salvation comes when strange extraterrestrials arrive.The story explores themes of depression, alienation, and feeling trapped through the lens of an android experiencing human emotions in an advanced technological society. But it maintains hope that even existential despair can be overcome and learning to embrace the opportunity of an open future.Providing an Illustrated narrative format. This release combines the "Robotic Depression's Lament" short story with selected lyrics from the concept album by Scuffed Circuit 08 & MacHaffy.
