At the death of her Granny, Kierra is introduced to Desmond, her previously unknown uncle. Desmond, also known as Uncle D, offers to take her in, but under the condition that she becomes involved in his criminal activities. Living in a group home until she reaches legal age isn't appealing either. Faced with limited options, Kierra reluctantly succumbs to a life of crime, although her tenure in this world is short-lived, lasting only a few months. Realizing the dire consequences of her choices and unable to bear disappointing her late grandmother, Kierra makes a bold decision. She abandons her car and cell phone to embark on a journey to the Peachtree Amtrak station in Georgia, intending to escape Uncle D's reach by boarding the midnight train to an unknown destination. Her plan is unexpectedly altered when she encounters Kash, a charming young man who offers her assistance. Despite the lessons learned from her recent misadventures, Kierra, enticed by Kash's attractiveness, kindness, and an offer of a free train ticket is an offer she can't resist. In exchange, she agrees to pose as his girlfriend until they reach safety. Unfortunately, Kierra's connection with Kash inadvertently endangers him, dragging him into her troubled past. The story unfolds, revealing the gripping account of how their lives become intertwined as they navigate through the challenges of their choices.
