Ras Mesfin Seleshi was one of the prominent patriotic leaders during the short occupation of Ethiopia by fascist Italy from 1935 to 1940. He was one of the 43 dignitaries in the meeting held in Baitwayo cave in the midst of the Battle of Maichew. The meeting decided to adopt a protracted warfare by dispersing in the width and length of the country (Gebrewol Engedawork PP89-92). During the five year protracted war he played a prominent role in coordinating the efforts of the local patriotic militia and the government in exile. The series of books in this publication will impart information on the role of the General (Ras) Mesfin.This volume deals with childhood and family background of this prominent army general and his valor in the battle front and his coordination effort between the Emperor in exile and the patriotic forces.
