Forging a Path to Wellbeing: The Journey of an African American Family

Earl and Rebecca live in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Their descendants live nearby. In 2001 (Rebecca) and 2007 (Earl), they achieved full retirement, frequently traveling as "smart tourists" to fulfill their life-long passion for learning and for meeting new people. They escape Minnesota's snowy winters to a condo in Fountain Hills, Arizona, where locals frettingly characterize them as snowbirds. On June 8, 2023, they marked their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary.The family photo on the cover was taken in Katsina, Northern Nigeria, 1969. It represents a major stepping stone on the Scotts' path to wellbeing. After visiting Nigeria, Earl and Rebecca returned to Africa many times for personal and scholarly growth as career educators.
