I Capture The Castle

Seventeen year old Cassandra Mortmain and her family may live in a castle but they have barely enough to get by on. Fortunately their new American landlords, the Cottons, seem agreeable to waiving the rent. Rose (Cassandra's older sister) is determined to marry Simon Cotton to help herself (and the family) out of poverty. When the couple become engaged it seems she has succeeded but, after a quarrel with Cassandra about the ethics of marrying solely for wealth and security, she disappears, and we discover that Cassandra's objections to the marriage of convenience are not prompted on moral grounds alone...
