He wins a long distance shooting contest against a veteran Sharpshooter sergeant who becomes his mentor, and recovers dying and injured Union veterans from a horrifying train collision.Myscal later joins his regiment of battle-hardened and angry men on the eve of a momentous battle. Most hate the South. Most will despise a man who does not want to fight, does not loathe the South, and belongs to an enigmatic faith. During this last battle of 1863, Myscal descends further into the world of hard men in a violent cause.
