Scoundrels of Skaguay is the tale of two young friends who set off to seek their fortunes in the Yukon gold rush of 1897, but soon become embroiled in a murder mystery in the lawless town of Skaguay, Alaska. Sixteen-year-old Henry Dunhill, still haunted by the coal mine explosion that buried his father and older brother two thousand feet underground, boards a train bound for the bustle of 1897 Seattle. When Henry's plans to work for his uncle's fishing business unravel, he is befriended by Silas, an orphan who's spent most of his childhood in a local pool hall. News soon breaks of a massive gold strike in the Yukon: a ship carrying tons of Klondike gold and dozens of newly rich men has just docked in Seattle. Henry and Silas-two boys with little to lose-are lured north by the gold rush fever that is sweeping the nation.
