Your first love can make you do crazy things. Like figure out who you really are. Sadie is seldom selected to play in their team's basketball games but Noah doesn't mind; the chance to be benched next to the quiet girl with the low ponytail and the tattered Bugs Bunny scrunchie is the whole reason he joined the team, after all. It is the mid 1990s and the final year of high school for Noah and Sadie, but both are struggling to keep up with their friends in the race to grow up the fastest. Sadie is traumatised by the loss of her parents and the consequential need to live with her alcoholic uncle. Noah, nicknamed Sloopy by his mother, is under pressure to follow in his father's footsteps and enrol in seminary school. He must uphold his family's image of perfection within the church community and salvage his friendship with Josh and Adam, even though they all seem to be heading in very different directions.High school is nearly over.
