My Little Book Of Eclectic Vignettes

Why is this a book full of self-contained Vignettes varied items of such compelling interest? Because I feel the need to share a dis-jointed life of danger and adventure spent satisfying deep, abiding curiosities of everything in life that catches my interest and has led me through years of harrowing action and adventure through an inordinate desire to seek out the basis for mankind?s basic motivations and relationship with his Maker. With time out for raising a family and climbing the corporate ladder in heavy engineering, hi-rise building construction, I have successfully started many small businesses, only to sell out from lack of interest when up and going, profitability established and curiosity satisfied. Shipping out on a tramp freighter and a stint in South America in the early 1960's as an undercover government operative and pilot, whetted my appetite and curiosity for more such, then a wonderful fifteen years spent in Southeast Asia carried this forward. Most rewarding among others, was helping Hmong Hilltribe people escape through the Army lines of the Communist regimes of Laos and Cambodia, locate a redoubt across the Meekong River in the Northern Thai Mountains, there to help build villages safe from their Commuinist oppressors. This saved me from utter boredom when I needed it most- occurring while delving into and trying to understand what to me were convoluted diametrically opposed cultures, centuries older than mine. Through difficult, harrowing experiences, I discovered that people are basically the same, and develop similarly but with different customs, and even different thought processes which evolve in different environments separated by half a world away. Such differences obscures the basic humanity in all of us. Tolerance is of the essence. Stay on that mysterious, Eclectic Road of Life at your leisure with this book of astounding, beneficial and informative things - grasping your own adventures as they come. We are limited only by the smallness of our dreams. All who wander, are not lost. Know this; The brave may not live forever, but the cautious may not live at all.
