The Captain retired early from the airship Navy due to his concerns of not being able to follow his orders. He leads a quiet life transporting cargo and passengers in his converted luxury airship. Following his feelings, he launches into a raging storm and heads out over the sea. He rescues Alexandria who is clinging to a baby and a bit of flotsam from the wreckage of the airship a hidden bomb had destroyed. This ends his quiet life and he and his crew that he considers family must fight off airsharks, attacking airships and assassins. His troubles are compounded by his support of women he cares about or that he sees as wronged. His lack of skills dealing with women compound the problem.
