The power of a praying family

In our first book on marriage, Fifty Years of Covenant Marriage: God Wrote Our Love Story (2019), we outlined the core values that guided our friendship for sixty years and moved our marriage from good to great, built on a solid foundation that has survived through all the changing scenes of life for over five decades. Although the book was based mostly on our real-life experiences, it was largely impersonal and drew substantially from the experience of other couples and recent research publications on marriage. In this complementary volume, we discuss the critical role of prayers in establishing a marriage on a solid foundation, moving it from good to great, and ensuring an enduring relationship that lasts a lifetime. We present testimonies on how grace, our faith and other core values guided us through the numerous challenges which we surmounted and critical decisions which largely determined the way we are today: a richly fulfilled couple. Developing a tripartite relationship with God in a marriage is powerful and we discuss this in some depth. We also present as an Appendix a more detailed discussion of a wide range of biblical instances in which intimacy with God worked wonders.
