This is a work of fiction, based in part upon the personal experience of the author, a former Colorado District Court Clerk. This court handled all of the asbestos litigation filed in its jurisdiction and the attorneys representing plaintiffs became very wealthy from the settlements and judgments they earned for their clients. This wealth attracted young women, often associates or paralegals, leading to affairs and divorces from their wives. Some of these wives formed a group known as "the asbestos wives" and it became a support group with a mission to use some of their divorce settlement money to assist injured plaintiffs and their families. through a nonprofit corporation the wives formed, staffed and operated.
