Love In Action: Understanding Love From God'S Perspective

Love is one of the most strongest forces on earth. It is life's most powerful motivator and has far greater depth and meaning than most people realized. As human, we are wired with a lifelong thirst for love, our heart desperately long for it like oxygen needed for our survival. Love is very important and essential in life . It is also one of the keys to progress; In any community or among any group of people that embarks in a project, if love is lacking, no doubt there will be no progress in it because using the principles of love brings progress. Both secular and religious thinkers agreed that love plays a central role in life, numerous books, songs, magazines and movies were written around this subject, yet it is the most confusing and misconceived word especially in this present generation.Writing a book of this nature has been a challenging experience. Long ago, to be precise on 29th of May 2005, I was in a children program tagged "Love in Action", where the children presented a playlet which described an unconditional love. It was through this ministration that my eyes were opened and as I began to ruminate on this topic, series of questions began to spring forth within me such as; Is there love again?, What really is love?, How would people really know what love is all about and how can we live or act in real love?. It is evident that love is fast fading out in our Society, and what we now have is deceit, insincerity and hypocrisy. Today, couples, families, groups, societies are living in deceitful love (not real love). I heard a story narrated recently on air where a woman was asking the public whether to stay or leave her husband because the husband had an accident and in the process he lost his spinal cord which means he's no more active as a man, then I asked if that was enough a reason to leave someone you confessed you love, is that the basis of her love for her husband? Or let's even ask ourselves before we crucify this woman... why do we love? Why do you love your loved ones? Is it because of qualities they posses; their beauty, money, intellects, shapes and body structure? If you love because someone possesses something, if that thing is no more there then what happens to your love for such? Will you still love? There is much to say about love, but I want to focus on this aspect that the Lord has opened my eyes to. Therefore this book shall address questions such as how do we define love, what are the attributes of love? What does it mean to say that God is love? How do we love? And so on. The book shall highlight the basic principles of love. If you study these principles and you have the resolve to use it in everything you do, you will almost certainly accomplish your purpose in building your life, your family, even the society.
