After learning that their estranged mother has just passed away, they are informed that her two-million dollar estate was liquidated prior to her death and converted into a diamond ring; which, according to her wishes, was to be placed on her middle finger and buried with her. They decide to take a road trip to attend the funeral and attempt to recover their inheritance, against the advice of Finnie's love-struck psychologist. Reverend Burr, harboring his own demons, and whom their mother had known for many years, is due to preside over the ceremony. He's broke, both financially and morally, and must hitchhike cross-country to attend the funeral. Along the way, he's picked up by Ronny who is en-route to bury his recently deceased twin brother in the Grand Canyon. Ronny and Burr form a friendship that will eventually be hard for Burr to shake. Burr must also contend with Reverend Cepeda, a psychopathic coke-addict who seeks revenge against Burr for nearly burning him to death in their church. Curtis and Finnie are forced to make some agonizing decisions along the way that will change their lives forever. Things are never quite what they seem in this twisted dark comedy about lethal greed and profound family secrets. Thicker is in active development with several Hollywood production companies working to produce the project.
