The last chapter of the Book of Romans contains salutations and greetings to the companions of Apostle Paul. The author investigates who these early church members were. These names represent the composition of the early church. It is well known that the Jewish converts numbered high in this Christian movement. While researching the subject of what the early church looked like scholar and author, Dr. Whitlock a seminary professor discovered name meanings found in Chapter 16 in the Book of Romans. Her knowledge of biblical languages along with previously published research in Jewish Studies led to these findings. Working with Christian Jewish scholars, the author reveals that the names of the early church-members mentioned in Chapter 16 in the Book of Romans represent the embodiment of what the early church-membership looked like which can have a more modern application. While Greek manuscripts are absent of punctuation markings, the early Aramaic texts of the period are not. The presence of punctuation provides clarification in some murky areas that still affect church ordinances today. While Chapter 16 cannot be taken in isolation and made into a whole doctrine, we can step inside for a moment to see how we can better read and understand the scriptures as an English reader from a western culture. In this book the breakdown and explanation of the often asked question of how to say God's name is answered. Included is an alphabetical listing of names found in Chapter 16 of Romans. Charts that have a breakdown explaining the name of Jesus.Hebraic wordplay along with etymological information is provided for each name as well as some notable names throughout the Bible such as Abraham. This book could be used as a reference for ministers, a supplemental reading for seminarians studying the New Testament and as insight for the Christian who wants to grasp a Jewish perspective.
