The Wanderings of a Traveling Man, my seventh book, is dedicated to several special friends that I discovered through the journey of my life.Along with Marjorie Bowles, of the Texas Hill Country, there is Mrs. Ada, up in the Oklahoma Panhandle. Over the years, both ladies and their closest friends and families became family to me. There are also my many friends in New Mexico, Arizona, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma that I did not want to leave out.Dedicated to all of them that opened their doors and took me in as a weary sojourner in a distant land. Every one of them opened their hearts and poured forth their innermost feelings and inspired me to go forward with my offerings.I could never have found anyone that would have treated me better or so kindly accepted me into their homes and onto their ranches.Looking back now, the moments spent with these dear souls were some of the happier times of my life. They are only memories now, but they are the type of memories that one carries to their grave.I started this book with the intent of it containing several individual friends, but as I started writing and recalling such times, I had much more information about certain ones than I could ever imagine.Maybe in time, I will write a sequel to this offering and list more of those beautiful flowers that I found as I made my journey. There was never a cross word between any of us during the years that we were close, and I was visiting them regularly. Moments that made days, fell through the hourglass of our lives as we relished every minute of it.Even until this day, the beginning of hunting season calls my mind away, as I sit and contemplate my wonderful friends from days of old and wish that there was a way to return to those settings once again, even if it were but for a short visit. Many would call it nostalgia and I would totally agree with them. When thinking about those days, I am overcome with acute nostalgia for those times.I am asking you to accept these friends just as I have presented them to you; there is a strong possibility of you falling in love with them also. If you do, I have been successful in illustrating them to you.Enjoy my wanderings. Jim L. Richardson
