Death Before My Eyes is a work of Young Adult Fiction/Fantasy/ with a Supernatural twist and is set in the mid 90's. The protagonist of my book, Damian DeMarco, is a troubled teen who has grown up in a dysfunctional family. This is mainly due to his abusive alcoholic father, who ultimately is the cause of his mother's untimely death.Now alone in the world, Damian's own alcoholic tendencies begin to push him over the edge. This results in his attack on another local boy, Mateo Sanchez, a bright and soft-spoken Chicano kid, who he had publicly bullied for years. Now, in a coma, Mateo learns that there is truly life after death when his soul travels to a spiritual realm where he awaits his final fate.Damian, now facing attempted murder charges, is sentenced to serve time at California Youth Authority, a prison for under age offenders. Now feeling more alone than ever, Damian faces a life changing experience when his soul is also catapulted into the afterlife. Only now, it might be too late for the remorse of his prior life's sins.
