Sightless

A story about four young individuals whose lives coincided, each one facing daily challenges. George coming from a wealthy family, a well-liked young man amongst his peers but exceedingly humble. He does not let his family's wealth determine how he should be towards others. He makes the decision to befriend Lorenzo, who unlike him is not privileged. He positively impacts on Lorenzo's outlook on life but ends up losing his own. Lorenzo comes from a family with a wealthy background, but due to his father's misfortune, things at home are displeasing. Lorenzo and his father do not see eye to eye, they have a bad relationship, the way his father sends him to school is evident. He was lonely both at home and school, he was being bullied at school. Life significantly changes for him when he becomes friends with George, but Carl disapproves of their friendship.Carl is a young who is born with a silver spoon in his mouth, controlled by his family's wealth, he sees himself on a high horse. He lacks humility towards others based on his entitlement to money. He associates himself with outlaws. When things start going wrong, he is faced with certain decisions but ends up choosing the wrong ones. Innocent people are dragged into the consequences of his choices.Stacey being one of Carls victims. A young lady from a good home, who unlike everyone else, is home-schooled. Sheltered from the outside world, her limited interaction with people makes her grow up naive. Blinded by love she falls for someone she knows nothing about. She makes the decision of walking away from a life she is used to for what she thinks is love. She has a certain expectation of how life should be, but is unexpectedly faced with disappointment. Because of the type of life Carl lives, she is abused and raped, and then he seemingly dissapears and that's when she's granted with a second chance.She meets Lorenzo and immediately falls for him. Their relationship is completely to what she had with Carl. He is good to her in so many ways that it changes her perspective on relationships. But as an unfortunate result of her abusive past relationship, she keeps secrets from him in fear of judgment.After a couple of years things change with the return of Carl, leading to the shooting of Lorenzo because of misunderstanding. She blames herself for the outcome of Lorenzo's life and feels that she does not deserve another chance in life, so she looks into committing suicide.Description of the front cover: The colour purple is often associated with mystery, there's something mysterious about being sightless. Not being able to see what is infront of you despite it being visibly clear makes it difficult for you to explain let alone understand it, the cover uses the colour purple to put emphasis on the mysteries of what is not known.The female sillhouette is representative of the main character in the book, Stacey, who essentially becomes figuratively sightless to the situations unravelling infront of her eyes pushing her to the edge.
