The year is 2144, and Earth is now desolate and uninhabitable. Aurora, raised by the alien Torquinox on the distant planet Domina, thought she was living the idyllic life learning to be a squid vessel mechanic. Now at 16, she finds the Torquinox's shared mind technology is intrusive and annoying. Aurora longs to feel more human and less alien.
