Life And Times Of A Left-Handed Tweener

Having been born in 1944, I have always assumed I was part of the "Boomer Generation." However, it turns out that the Boomers started in 1945! So, technically, I guess, I am part of the "Silent Generation," so-called, as I understand it, because our experiences in the Second World War were so tragic and horrifying that we don't like to talk about them. However, given the fact that when the war ended, I was only one year old, I doubt I'd have much to say about it anyway. So, it's a stretch to claim membership in the "Greatest Generation," nor can I claim to be part of the Boomers. Caught in the middle: a "Tweener." To add insult to injury, I am left-handed: a Left-Handed Tweener! Not only can I not use a can opener efficiently, but I can't whine about it as a self-absorbed Boomer. As a Left-Handed Tweener, I can either see the glass as half-empty or can view life as a glass half-full and look for humor and irony in my circumstance. In choosing between these alternatives, I was helped by considering the old saw: " Into every life, a little rain must fall." It occurred to me that this could be either a good thing or a bad thing. I suspect that in every life there are events that seem at the time like a rainy day at the beach, but upon later reflection, seen through the hazy patina of nostalgia and irony, reveal themselves to be funny or ironic drought-busters. "Life and Times of a Left-Handed Tweener" looks back at events in my life that are best treated as the latter.
