Roger Simons and Heinz Lessing wake up in a claustrophobic windowless room of an illegally ran Mental Hospital situated in the middle of forest, the location of which is only known to few. Moments after the shocking truth of their kidnaping is revealed by the Hospital Director Thurman Sanders, the two scientists get injected with Hallucinogenic drug, effects of which rarely manifest but are permanent. Roger receives medical treatment from one of the nurses, who also reveals the truth about the horrors of hallucinogen rich well water, food of questionable source and a Wolf Pack that pray on those who get lost in an attempted escape. Heinz is taken to isolation as he caused trouble. There he meets a chemical engineer, another scientist doomed by the wealthy businessman Giles Brock. Gilles has the two scientists, Roger and Heinz, brought into the mental institution for their attempt in saving Humanities first man mission to Jupiter's Moon Europa, the ultimate punishment saturated with suffering for disobeying the orders, the punishment no one ever escapes.Heinz gets an opportunity for examination by the staff Doctor, and explores the given chance to surreptitiously gather information about the third floor of the Hospital, the floor which is off the limits for the patients and only occupied by the high ranked staff members. Heinz confirms the existence of a satellite phone, one of the only ways of communication with the outside world. He also discovers and steals staff food, which he later shares with his close friends. A nurse sends patients to the large sleeping hall, where approximately 100 mentally disturbed individuals spend the night tightly packed together. The animalistic conditions in which the patients have to spend the night, are unbearable for the two scientists, but after they are served the regular nightly dose of sedatives, Roger almost instantly falls asleep, while Heinz who successfully hid the pill within his molar cavity, stays awake and explores the possibilities of escaping the sleeping corridor, so he can further explore the Hospital during the night. Heinz quickly recognizes the flaw in the old and simply attached door, so he wonders through the first floor, only to hear Hospital's security, consisting of twin brothers argue. The brothers are told by Thurman to retrieve a particular item from the warehouse, to which one had to travel through the deadly forest, then a miles long underground tunnel. Heinz, though scared, proceeds to follow the brothers, which are attacked by the fierce wolf pack just before the tunnel entrance; still, the twins successfully escape. Heinz, though in almost complete darkness, calculates the approximate direction in which the tunnel was, and rushes back to the hospital. Based on direction in which the brothers went, Roger and Heinz together with another patient, walk with an enormous fear through the woods and eventually find the entrance to the tunnel. Their walk through the pitch-dark narrow tunnel, illuminating their path with a candle, is a several mile walk which turns out to be exhausting, as half of the tunnel is flooded with ice cold water. Their effort is rewarded after exiting the tunnel, which they barely did, and finally discovering the warehouse, at which the food for the staff is brought from the outside world, as well as the newly kidnapped patients, referred to as 'merchandise'. There, after satisfying their hunger, they discover a letter, hand written by the very man who owns and funds the illegal Hospital, Giles Brock. In that letter they discover the horrifying truth of the upcoming events, such as elimination of up to 95% of the patients, excluding Professors Roger and Heinz. Giles wants to make sure that those two suffer for a long time. Heinz reads the letter and discovers an important information, Giles will pay a visit to the Hospital for further discussion with Thurman, and they will use this golden opportunity to eliminate the evil doer...
