The rest of the story deals with the consequences of committing adultery. The text emphasizes the fact that when Christians are lured into adultery, and then, repent of their sinning, Jesus will forgive them. Still, those who commit this sin will have to deal with the consequences of it. The story illustrates the Good News: When Christians reach Heaven, no one there remembers their sins. The saved do not go through eternity feeling guilty for what they did on Earth.
