A wise elder asked, "If you are not going to teach the Heidelberg Catechism, what will you offer in its place?" Our World Belongs to God was adopted by Synod of 1986 (revised 2007) as a Contemporary Testimony. This discipleship manual, Come and See..., divides the 58 paragraphs of the Contemporary Testimony into 25 weekly lessons, best suited for grade 11 and 12 students. In each lesson, students are introduced to and engaged and educated in faith formation from a reformed perspective. Come and See... will help students, new believers, and members alike have a clearer understanding of who God is and who we are, using God's Word. Sidney Couperus was born in Belleville, Ontario. He received a B.A. in philosophy from Dordt College and a Masters of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary. He began ministry at First Christian Reformed Church in Guelph and daughtered New Life Christian Reformed Church in Guelph. He moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia, serving 17 years in Trinity Christian Reformed Church. During this time, Sid completed his Doctor of Ministry Degree at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, where he wrote Come and See...Our World Belongs to God. He is presently serving Mountainview Christian Reformed Church in Grimsby, Ontario.
