Emil Wosczyk ran. A new immigrant from Poland, Emil lacks the street savvy necessary for the city of Detroit and makes an enemy of a well know street thug now bent on revenge. Emil heads for the Saginaw Valley to escape the vengeful thug and with the hope of becoming a lumberjack. Maura, the girl Emil has befriended, believes he is in trouble and follows him to the Saginaw. Together, the young couple begins building their life together in the early days of the lumbering era in the Saginaw Valley. But Maura isn't the only one who followed.
