He was raised in a rural farming community. This traditional upbringing built a solid foundation, which he leaned heavily on as he followed his own path and dreams. Andrew started writing in his mid-twenties as a way to bring order to things he was dealing with in life. Writing came naturally and soon he fell into a wonderful style of poetry and prose storytelling. Many of his poems are based on people he has met, passed on the street, saw on a bus, encountered in everyday life. Others are created from photographs he has seen, or people he made up as he tried to envision someone coping with different situations in life. Andy was quoted saying there is a little of himself hiding in all his poems, but it is up to the reader to figure out which part. Andrew writes from a place that sees the world with a unique clarity. With an impartial, empathetic, almost clairvoyance, he shows us the good, the bad and the ugly, inside the flesh and bones of our humanity. Reading his poetry is like opening the windows of the soul.
