At the time, I had no idea she was referring to an actual scripture, however; that is exactly what Proverbs 18:21 is saying. We daily eat the fruit of our words. If we sow words of kindness, we will reap kindness. If we sow harsh words, we will reap the bitter fruit of those words also. Jesus said that men will be held accountable for every careless word spoken on the day of judgment, for by our words we will be acquitted or condemned (Matthew 12:36-37).
