Broken Wings: An Autobiography

I believe that writing about my own life in essence tells the history, or at least part of the history, of the Tyree and Campbell (my mom's maiden name) families. This history matters, because each branch of my family tree has left a legacy and made an impact on hundreds of people, and through them, I am sure, thousands. I am fifty-eight as I write this, and even if I live to be old, I have already experienced about two-thirds of my entire life. Taking into account that I am not promised even another day, it seems prudent that I tell my story now. The stories about my family are based on how I remember them. I am well-aware that memories are impacted by one's own experience and perspective at the time of a particular event. My brothers and I have often debated (argued really) about what really happened at one event or other, and my conclusion has always been that the person most impacted by an event remembers it most vividly. I have also made the case that the one who writes about it has the final word. So there. Finally, I have chosen to take a conversational approach to my story. I refuse to get bogged down with grammar and syntax, and anything else that makes the telling of a story burdensome and cumbersome. My goal is that as you read these pages you will get the sense that we are talking over a cup of coffee, and that you are part of the narrative.
