The Project Genesis

Four hundred years after the collapse of society, human survivors are living in a retrofuturistic utopia deep beneath the surface of the earth. Nobody knows what happened to civilization all those centuries ago, and after generations underneath an artificial sky, eating artificial food and smelling artificial flowers, this society of scientists has comfortably settled into improving both quality and quantity of their artificial life instead of finding ways to get back under a real, warming sun. Enter Alexandyr Hall, a biological engineer currently working on a fruit that changes flavor via voice command. He is the first scientist in centuries to question the security of his city, the actual quality of his life, and the future he'll leave his two year old son. With a small team of scientists, he tries to work out a way to bring humanity back from the caves, and after a series of trials and errors, they are presented with an option so impossible that it might be the only way to save the human race and, ultimately, all life.
