The purpose of this book is to expose the work of Satan against the Church; and, to alert every reader to recognize the potential dangers of not heeding the warnings of God. John's epistles to the churches of Asia Minor compliment this purpose by showing that mere church work and religious traditions are not enough to please God. The seven churches were praised, criticized, and corrected at the same time. As we prepare to embark upon our journey through those seven churches, I wonder, "What church do you attend?" - not so much your physical place of worship, but rather how you worship. After all, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24).
